Judy Wieder, the former editor-in-chief of The Advocate, has a piece on Huffington Post about the countless ways the magazine has gone downhill. Now it's being reduced to a mini-magazine and isn't going to be on newsstands anymore.

Tamora Pierce has been writing YA fantasy for about twenty years, starting in the early eighties. Her books are known for having strong feminist themes, and she's written about a few gay characters before, but I believe that this is the first time her books have featured a transgendered character.( Spoilers for her latest book, Bloodhound )
